A busy morning in the Infant classroom working with clay to make hedgehogs.

We made a lovely brack at school this morning with Ms. Toolan & Emer. We got to put all the ingredients in a big bowl and mix, mix, mix. We also put 2 rings in the mixture. We cooked the brack in the oven and we got to eat it when it cooled down with butter & jam. It was very tasty.

Well done to everyone today who successfully completed our first fire drill of the year. All classrooms remembered to close the door on their way out and everyone got out of the building calmly and safely. Thank you to Ms Toolan for organising this drill with Shauna’s help to keep us all safe.

We had such a lovely week playing lots of different maths games and using all our new maths equipment. Thank you to our wonderful Parents, Grandparents, extended family and the wider community for such generous donations last December during our Christmas concert. The teachers used this money to update our concrete maths materials and now each classroom has a lovely variety of bright new resources. A great start to Maths week in the Infant room. We made 2d shape monsters, played dice games and estimated how long Ms Toolan was using cubes. Lots of fun and we had great help from the boys in 5th & 6th class. We look forward to more fun & games tomorrow.

Thank you to Ms Toolan and the Infants for a wonderful assembly this afternoon. All of the Infants introduced themselves to the whole school. They sang some lovely songs for us that link in with their September theme of Mé Féin and Autumn. We enjoyed listening to “Tá Teidí ag siúl’, and ‘The Leaves are Falling Down’. Today the boys & girls from Junior & Senior Infants presented our first school assembly. They introduced themselves in Irish, sang Irish songs & discussed their Autumn findings to date. They ended assembly with 2 fun action Autumn songs. Ms. Toolan talked about back to school safety and discussed future projects. Dolores from Green Schools was also in attendance and spoke to us all about projects she plans to work with us on this year. A lovely start to our week.

Junior & Senior Infants enjoyed our first walk of this school year this morning. We were delighted to have 3rd & 4th Class join us. We discussed road safety and how to stay safe on footpaths. We took shelter from the rain in the Sheep Festival marquee. We also observed signs of early Autumn. Lots of learning and making new friends.

3rd and 4th Class had a lovely morning walk with Junior and Senior Infants today. We got to have a look around the village at the preparations for the local Sheep Festival. We are all very excited for the weekend ahead 🐑

We had surprise visitors to our classroom this morning. Lots of fun stroking our 3 new friends. Bunnies are so cute.

Today we welcomed 5 new Junior Infants to our lovely school. We hope they will be very happy.

We have had lots of fun this June from eating outside in the sun to sports day in the rain. We worked hard and enjoyed fun treats, our school tour and golden time. A lovely year had by all. We wish Senior Infants well as they move on to 1st class and we look forward to welcoming our new Junior Infants in September. Thank you to everyone who made this school year fun for all. We had an action packed week in Junior & Senior Infants. We took part in a Water Safety zoom on Monday with lots of other schools. Tuesday & Thursday involved buddy reading with 3rd & 4th class. On Wednesday we engaged with World Bee day and researched and discussed many interesting facts and shared these with our families. We had indoor PE with Pat on Thursday because of the heavy rain. We also counted lots of money and sorted new maths resources for June. A very busy week

We said a sad goodbye today to Ms. Henry. We got to do lots of fun learning with her the last 4 weeks. We wish her well for the future.

We spent a lovely morning working outside with Martina from Heritage in Schools making bracelets and badges using flowers from our school ground.
