We had lots of fun together over the past few days in 5th and 6th Class. Some highlights were our school tour to Forest Park and our holiday budgeting projects. Zipit and Boda Borg were great fun on Friday!

6th Class enjoyed painting a mural together today to represent their time here in St. Michael’s N.S. They will graduate next week as the Class of 2026. Thank you to Claudette for kindly sharing her artistic skills with us today. We had a great time!

Thank you to Rebecca who provided us with fun GAA sessions this year. We had a great time!

5th and 6th enjoyed the morning with card games from our shared maths area. We enjoyed playing “Make 25 with 5” and “Bonds Snap” to begin in groups. There was lots of active listening required. What a lovely start to our week.

5th and 6th are working hard this term with plenty of fun in between! We were so lucky to get out in the sun this week too! ☀️ 🍦

Well done to the children in 4th-6th Class who represented St. Michael’s N.S. very well today in the Semi Finals. Unfortunately it was not our day but we enjoyed the day out in the sun and the treats after 🍦 ☀️ ⚽️

5th and 6th Class enjoyed Buddy Reading with 1st and 2nd Class this morning 📖

Thank you to Ciarán from Green Schools Travel who provided 5th and 6th Class with a cycle safety workshop today. We learned lots about safety on the road when cycling including checking our brakes, cornering, signaling and emergency stop. 🚲

5th and 6th Class are enjoying learning all about the Kingdom of Benin with Ms McGowan. We are writing a report on Benin to share with the class. We enjoyed making the Aztec masks last week.

5th and 6th Class had lots of fun today using the Lego Spike kits. They used their teamwork and engineering skills to design, make and code their creations. Some great work in a short space of time! Jack also showed us his own robot that he has designed and programmed to open and close its mouth to play music and it also has a laser eye! This was all inspired by the Lego Spike kits. Maith thú!

Well done to the boys who represented our school today. They played Carns, Moylough and Bunninadden - all very close games!

5th and 6th Class enjoyed a great workshop this morning with a French teacher named Julien. This fantastic workshop was provided by the French Embassy and was a great introduction to the French language. Merci Julien!

5th and 6th Class enjoyed an interactive Christmas Maths Quiz on Zoom today with presenter Michelle Colloty. We really enjoyed the alphabet maths quiz and the dingbats!

Thank you to Martina who came in to teach us all about our local area today. We had great fun making our Christmas Wreath using natural materials and also learned how to make a rush candle. We really enjoyed making the bird feeders too. We had a great afternoon in 5th and 6th Class.

We received our pennant today for all of the wonderful farm safety work that our school has engaged with this term. We have received the first one for Animal Safety and Wellbeing from AgriKids. We hope to earn more pennants in the future towards eventually earning an overall Farm Safety Flag for our school. Well done to everyone for all of their dedication to farm safety in our school community! Keep up the great work! 👏 🐑 🐄

5th and 6th Class attended mass today to pray for those who are no longer with us. Thank you to Fr Vincent for making us feel so welcome. We have created our own Tree of Remembrance in our classroom to remember our loved ones every day during this month. We created some Robin art for November too. We hope that you like them.

5th and 6th Class are keeping up their Farm Safety enthusiasm! This Week’s Focus: Sheep Farming! We joined Annie McGuinnes, a sheep farmer from Co. Louth. She gave us a glimpse into life on her farm and explained how she looks after her sheep in the Cooley mountains.
