Congratulations to Ben who won the Book Fair prize in our room. His alligator cover was lovely!

Our water colour paintings are now on display in the GP room. We also wrote reports about our time with Karen.

We had fun working with clay. We spent some time rolling and twisting and experimenting with it first. Then we shaped a pizza. Finally we put the toppings on the pizza.🍕 Now we are waiting for them to dry.

The food pyramid helps us with our food choices. We should eat lots from the base of the pyramid and less from each section as the pyramid gets narrower. This will helps us stay healthy.

We were learning about volcanoes in Geography. Today we did an experiment to see how volcanoes erupt. It was fun to watch the eruption!

Our final RSE lesson was on problem-solving. It is important to pick a good time to talk about a problem. It's also important to stay calm when talking about a problem. Then we tried a very difficult Missing Piece task!

We are working on reports and report writing with Ms Henry. Each group took information on an animal and created a report to present to the class. It was very interesting.

We had a session with Rebecca today. Even though it was damp we kept going! We were practicing ball skills after a warm up.

We chatted and learned about taking care of the various parts of our bodies. We also drew care posters.

Céad míle fáilte to Ms Henry who will be teaching 3rd & 4th for 4 weeks. A special céad míle fáilte to Leo. Leo is the speaking object in our room!

We took our woven pieces home today. They looked lovely 😍

Today we were learning about the heart. We took our pulse before and after exercise. We also used the Smart Heart to detect our pulse rate. It was fun exercising to increase our heart rates!

Today we learned about the development of babies in the womb. Then in groups we did a matching activity.

Today we were making St Brigid's crosses. Thank you to the people from 5th and 6th who helped us. It was a lovely afternoon.

This week we were chatting about rules, responsibilities and consequences. In groups we had to agree on three rules for various headings.

Our RSE lesson today was very appropriate. We were talking about families on Grandparents Day! In groups we found similarities and differences (this was hard) between families. We also said one thing we liked about our family.

Today we were experimenting with light. We used torches to investigate various materials. Were they transparent, translucent or opaque? We also had glass prisms. We made the spectrum by shining the light through them.

We are working with fibres in visual arts at the moment. Each person has a loom and we are weaving on it. It is very enjoyable. A big thank you to Ms Healy who helped us when we were beginning to weave.

Today in RSE we were chatting about bullying behaviour. It is very important to: Say stop Get away Tell Keep telling It is also very important to tell if we see someone being treated badly. We worked in groups chatting about case studies.

We really enjoyed performing our musical last night. What wonderful performances after all our hard work!

Santa visited our classroom today. We had great fun with our Christmas annual. We also got some sweets 😋

We watched Raahat, an author and illustrator, create a winter scene. She made it seem quite easy. Our cards turned out well too.

Today we worked in groups of three. There were Christmas themed problems. Each group had a mix of 3rd & 4th. We worked hard together and enjoyed solving them.

We received our pennant today for all of the wonderful farm safety work that our school has engaged with this term. We have received the first one for Animal Safety and Wellbeing from AgriKids. We hope to earn more pennants in the future towards eventually earning an overall Farm Safety Flag for our school. Well done to everyone for all of their dedication to farm safety in our school community! Keep up the great work! 👏 🐑 🐄

Today we met a scientist who speaks to people about health. He reminded us about keeping ourselves healthy. Hygiene is very important. We also protect our classmates and the community when we are careful.

On a very chilly day we were kept warm with plenty of running! We had to listen very carefully to coach's instructions .

Today 3rd & 4th classes were learning about the different ways energy is produced. More renewable resources are used now - solar panels, wind energy and hydro-electricity. We will be trying to remember to always turn lights off when we leave our classroom.

On Thursday we wrote and drew pictures about our favourite numbers. On Friday we completed a puzzle!

Michel is a lecturer in Galway.  There are three groups of venomous snakes. Vipers have very long fangs that can move! Elopids have shorter fangs that don't move but they are very sharp with very strong poison.  The colubrids have fangs farther back in their mouth so they have to chew their prey. Luckily we don't have venomous snakes in Ireland! 🐍 🐍

This morning we worked in pairs on two puzzles. The pairs worked very well to solve them. Daithi had a shape challenge for us too!

Today 3rd and Sixth had fun in the GP room. We played a loop game. Next we played Silent Sequence again. Finally we played Magic Circle- it took two goes to work it out!

Today we played Silent Sequence in the GP room. It was difficult to make the row silently! We also played Pairs- trying to take the last pair from the square. We also had a puzzle- change 4 3 2 1 to 1 2 3 4 by moving one counter 😀

Congratulations to the Cloonacool team who won the Junior A final on Saturday night. A huge number of our past pupils came back to visit us with the cup 🏆 A great weekend for our local club 👌

We continued working on safety today. We read a set of rules for a pool. Then we completed short safety poems and illustrated them underneath in our sketch pads.

The completed Halloween pictures are now on display in the GP room. They look very colourful 🎃 👻 🧙‍♀️

We have started our Halloween art. We painted the background today using autumn colours. When they are dry we will paint silhouettes on...

We observed the difference between placing an egg in fresh water and salt water. It proved that objects float better in salt water 💧

We learned a lot of facts about the seilide garraí and other snails this week. They are part of the mollusc family. They are herbivores....

Today we played mini games with Gavin. It was great to put the skills to use!

Before we played games we were practicing the skill of hand passing the sliotar.

We have been working in groups doing projects. They make a lovely display in our classroom.
