We had a lovely week at school this week. We enjoyed mass with the whole school on Tuesday lead by Fr Vincent to remember loved ones who have passed away. 3rd and 4th Class enjoyed creating our classroom tree for our holy space and lovely artwork using oil pastels to remember all of our family members this November and always 🕯️

3rd and 4th Class had a great day today learning lots of new basketball skills. We enjoyed learning how to do correct chest and bounce passes, how to move with the ball (dribbling) and the layup. We are looking forward to more PE lessons in the sun this year ☀️ 🏀

3rd and 4th Class had great fun yesterday and today trying to guess this household item while learning about homes in the past. Can you guess what it may be used for? 👀

Well done to everyone today who successfully completed our first fire drill of the year. All classrooms remembered to close the door on their way out and everyone got out of the building calmly and safely. Thank you to Ms Toolan for organising this drill with Shauna’s help to keep us all safe.

During the week we played lots of maths games on the Chromebooks, spent a lot of time on maths talk, practised our tables and played lots of board games. We enjoyed lots of place value activities using our lovely maths equipment purchased from the money raised at our Christmas Concert last year. Well done to 3rd and 4th Class who had the closest guess to the correct number of sweets in the jar. We can’t wait to eat all 306 sweets! 🍬

We played lots of maths games together today including the “Daily 10” maths challenge game online. We had to use our maths eyes to guess how many sweets are inside Ms Whitehead’s jar- all to be revealed on Friday 🍬 👀. We also had a round of our favourite Tables Tiger game to continue to work through our multiplication tables practise. We are looking forward to lots more maths games using our new maths equipment and board games this week too ⭐

Well done to Eamon who represented St. Michael’s N.S. at the Connacht Cross Country stage in Longford at the weekend. We are so proud of you! Well done ⭐

We had great fun on Dojo Island on the Chromebooks today as a reward for great behaviour all week. Well done to everyone! ⭐

Thank you to Ms Toolan and the Infants for a wonderful assembly this afternoon. All of the Infants introduced themselves to the whole school. They sang some lovely songs for us that link in with their September theme of Mé Féin and Autumn. We enjoyed listening to “Tá Teidí ag siúl’, and ‘The Leaves are Falling Down’. 3rd and 4th Class had a lovely morning walk with Junior and Senior Infants today. We got to have a look around the village at the preparations for the local Sheep Festival. We are all very excited for the weekend ahead 🐑

3rd and 4th Class had a great afternoon today with 5th Class who taught us how to use the Bee Bots. We had a great time learning how to program together and even worked through some tricky maizes. Our problem solving skills were put to the test! Thank you to 5th Class and Mr Nally for teaching us and organising the visit of the Bee Bots today.

We had great fun today playing maths games in our groups. We’re working hard on our multiplication tables this term.

We enjoyed a mindful break today during our SPHE lesson on wellbeing. The Body Scanner video helped us to regulate our body and relax.

3rd and 4th Class enjoyed using the Chromebooks this afternoon to find facts about our chosen countries on the classroom globe. We hope to do lots of project work this year using the Chromebooks to support us.

What a wonderful way to end our last full week at school! We all really enjoyed our tour from start to finish!

This afternoon we played board games together. It was a change from yesterday's activity!

We have finished our weeks of buddy reading with junior and senior infants. They read their book bag books to us. We showed them our novel. Ms. Toolan also organised a 'buddy chat' with our elbows touching.
