We had an action packed week in Junior & Senior Infants. We took part in a Water Safety zoom on Monday with lots of other schools. Tuesday & Thursday involved buddy reading with 3rd & 4th class. On Wednesday we engaged with World Bee day and researched and discussed many interesting facts and shared these with our families. We had indoor PE with Pat on Thursday because of the heavy rain. We also counted lots of money and sorted new maths resources for June. A very busy week

3rd and 4th had fun with the new maths resources. We played Crazy Eights with the new card packs and had some competitive fun! 🃏♠️♥️♦️♣️

Thank you again to all who supported our Christmas concert so generously. We have now bought lots of new maths resources for the school!

We are so lucky to have Ms. Colleary and Ms.Healy working with our class for our English lessons. We all get to read our own novels, practice close procedures, handwriting and the Newell literacy programme.

The children of the senior rooms welcomed the author Claire Mc Donagh today. They used her interactive book to play a game of Gaelic football!

Thank you to the parents association for organising our communion cake. We ate it at lunchtime today. It was yummy!

This morning First and Second class joined a webinar about water safety. We learned about essential life -saving guidelines that we all need to know.

Today we welcomed Claire McDonagh to our school. She spoke to us about her book. The theme is football and it is an interactive story where you choose what happens on the pitch. We worked in groups to play the game and score as much as possible!

Today first and second class had great fun playing maths games on our chrome books. The main site we used was www.maths frame.co.uk

Congratulations to the 8 children in 2nd Class who received their First Holy Communion on Saturday. We hope that you all had a wonderful day with your families. Thank you to their teachers Ms Giblin and Ms McTernan for preparing them so well for the big day. Thank you to Fr Vincent and the choir for a lovely mass and to all of the parents for their support and organisation of the community centre for the party. It was a wonderful day for all.

Thank you to Ciarán from Green Schools Travel who provided 5th and 6th Class with a cycle safety workshop today. We learned lots about safety on the road when cycling including checking our brakes, cornering, signaling and emergency stop. 🚲

5th and 6th Class published a book together dedicated to Catherine Connolly titled “Different Foods Just for You” . This was part of the writing workshop process. We were delighted to receive correspondence from President Connolly’s secretary today. Well done to 5th and 6th Class ⭐

We said a sad goodbye today to Ms. Henry. We got to do lots of fun learning with her the last 4 weeks. We wish her well for the future.

Today we welcomed the five children who will be the junior infant class 2026-27. They had a lovely time in Ms. Toolan's room. Her class were very welcoming and enjoyed playing with the new pupils.

5th and 6th Class are enjoying learning all about the Kingdom of Benin with Ms McGowan. We are writing a report on Benin to share with the class. We enjoyed making the Aztec masks last week.

We are continuing to read our class novel The Extincts. We created new covers for the book.

The children of 2nd class will make their First Holy Communion on Saturday May 16th at 11am. Like other years, we are asking Parents from other classes to help out with the party in the Community Centre following the ceremony. Here are a few ways you can help: Bring the following items into the GP room at the school next week- Biscuits, bars, buns sweets, cakes, brack, crisps, 7up or Miwadi Bring home-baked goods to the Hall on Friday 15th or on Saturday morning Help set

Thank you so much to Ms Toolan for setting up a free book fair for us this week. There were lots of books to choose from. We are delighted with our new books and can’t wait to read them 📚

The sheep had a great first day of school today. They learned lots about taking turns and having fun! They really enjoyed the lovely weather all day too ☀️ Ms Whitehead would like to thank “ewe” all for taking such great care of the sheep for the day. They’d love to come back to visit St. Michael’s again soon 🐑
